This advice is very minimalist, and essentially trades off manual effort for software facilities. If a business person works out the true cost of their time, they may well realise that more automation of the changeover process would benefit them.
Bear in mind that it is the volume of information that dictates the effort, both in history terms and daily transactions. Some small businesses cannot convert price lists with thousands of items by hand, they must use automated features.
