Notes:
Year end conversion is the simplest option as the system starts with no balances in the analysis accounts of the general ledger. The conversion applies to all ledger account and static data including budgets and thresholds (credit limits), recurring payments, and prices
Period end is considerably more complex because of the need to preserve data integrity in a system that already has balances in analysis accounts. In addition to the above, outstanding order values and transactions must be carried forward. Not only that, but the trial balance will be re-constructed from the converted individual transactions, and several rounding errors may accumulate.
In either case, a package that retains detail transaction data for drill-down purposes must address how history data is to be converted.
